Mankind had always been interested in the past. Once writing developed some insight was obtained, but mainly from financial and royal records. Archaeology can very often fill in details of the lives of ordinary people.
Archaeology could once be seen as chiefly concerned with treasure hunting and museum filling; now it is very much a science, giving us a fascinating insight into our heritage. In this fully illustrated talk, some of the world’s greatest sights will be visited – several virtually unknown – and their archaeological heritage explored, together with an introduction to the many interesting techniques involved.
